Bending belongs to the group of deformation forming procedures that are most often used. Mostly bending processes are performed in the cold state, but thick sheets are bent in the warm state. During bending, the sheet metal is subjected to both elastic and plastic stresses, so for this reason, when external forces cease to act, the bent workpiece, due to the presence of elastic stresses, slightly recovers and opens. The characteristic of the sheet metal bending process is, in most cases, local plastic deformation. The deformation zone then covers a smaller part of the sheet metal volume, although there are procedures where the complete sheet metal (volume) is deformed.
